Le Petit Biennale (2009)
foamcore architectual model featuring installational, sculptural and other physical art works by various international "artists".
10 x 27 x 40 cm

Made for "Make It/Break It", an exhibition/project orchestrated by Now Now Projects in Glasgow, Scotland. The concept for the exhibition was to attempt to break a record (see: Guinness Book). While normally we think of record-breaking things in the realm of visual art as being "the largest sized" or "most ornate" (etc.) I went with the idea of the "smallest", specifically "the World's Smallest Biennale of Contemporary Art". The scale of the project is imaginary, you can project the idea that this is a model of larger works or actual tiny works of art. The line is blurred between reality & fiction. The artists are in fact fictitious but were specifically picked and invented according to each piece and how each piece reflected the idea of this faux-artist. From the location/ethnic lineage/age, etc. the pieces also allude to certain actual contemporary artists. Biennale & contempo junkies may pick up on whom, but it is also left open to interpretation.
